About Theresa Kay Photography
My mission is to create something more than just a photo, I want to create a piece of art!
I have been a passionate photographer for over 25 years! I started with my uncle one day when he took me out to take photos, and it was SO fun!! I took that love and enrolled in my first photography class in high school. This was such an amazing experience. We shot with black and white film, processed the film, and then enlarged our favorite images in the darkroom! This was so enjoyable that when I went to college, I wanted to learn more techniques from different instructors. I took beginner and advanced photography classes at three different colleges. As a young adult, I worked at a kids and infant photography studio where I learned more about posing, how to get a smile from a child, and so much more. Yes, I looked a little foolish at times, but the amazing images I captured were worth it! I have hiked in the mountains and captured so many stunning landscape photography images on film, and my goal is to enlarge these images and sell them at some point. I will definitely be adding to my landscape photography portfolio. Then I found myself absolutely amazed by Steve Rouch's wedding photography in my early adult years. I worked for him as an assistant for 8 years until I became pregnant with my first beautiful baby and decided to stay home. I tried to start my portrait photography business at that time but found that having a baby at home was enough work for the moment. However, I never stopped using my camera and have continued to pursue my passion with my own kids, friends, and landscapes whenever possible.
Now that my kids are older, my time has become more available to focus on myself and what makes me happy! Photography is so fulfilling for me that what will be my job will also be my me time! Steve Rouch has been an amazing mentor, with over 40 years of experience in weddings, fine arts, and portraits. He is a master photographer, which is a great accomplishment in the photography world. I am thrilled to combine my 25+ years of experience with his 40+ years to create something truly amazing!
My passion lies in landscape photography, particularly capturing old textures from vintage cars and buildings. I use this love for landscape photography in my family portraits. I love to find a beautiful landscape and place a family, couple, or kids in it. This approach creates a stunning image that can hang on the wall not just as a family photo but as a piece of art! When I capture family portraits, I make sure to get posed images with everyone smiling and looking at the camera, along with candid shots and an artistic piece. My mini sessions may not always allow for all of this, so if you want the whole package, I suggest you sign up for at least an hour portrait photography session.
Currently, I am in the process of leveraging my many years of experience and love for architecture to capture homes in the real estate photography market. With this, I will also be adding construction and other architectural photography services.
I am incredibly excited about all the plans and goals I have ahead! Get used to seeing my name in the world of photography! I have numerous goals that will truly steer the photography world in a positive direction!
